Urge Congress To Pass A Strong CNR Bill

September 21, 2010

Today is a national call-in day for Food Banks with regards to Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR).  This year, Congress is considering a child nutrition bill that impacts both the families we serve and the programs we operate. This bill provides an opportunity to reduce child hunger by increasing children’s access to child nutrition programs. The bill passed by the Senate in August made improvements, but didn’t go far enough to make sure low-income children are connected with the programs. With Congress back in Washington, the House of Representatives has to improve and pass the bill before the programs expire on September 30. There is a small but critical window of opportunity to strengthen the child nutrition bill before it goes to the President.

TAKE ACTION
Today we urge you to visit the Hunger Action Center for details on how to contact your Congress member to advocate for a healthy funded CNR.

Congress will make this bill a priority if they believe it is important to their constituents. Please help us show them that it is. Thank you.
