School is Just Around the Corner – Are You Prepared?

August 2, 2011

Do your children have health insurance? Do your children need immunizations? Do your children need sports physicals? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the staff at the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) Client Services Division has information that may be able to help you and your family.

Texas families with uninsured children may be eligible for health insurance through Children’s Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Both programs provide a wide range of benefits, including regular check-ups, immunizations, prescriptions, vision and dental care to kids under the age of 19. Children may be eligible for health care at no or low cost by applying for CHIP/Children’s Medicaid.

The Client Services Division at the SAFB can assist with completing the applications for all of the State of Texas Federal Benefits (SNAP, Adult Medicaid, Children’s Medicaid, CHIP, TANF, Long Term Care, WIC and the Women’s Health Program). The friendly, bilingual staff is skilled and will screen for all social services. They do not determine eligibility, but are available to guide clients through the process and submit proper documentation.

Don’t delay; contact the SAFB Client Services Division today. Please call 210.431.8326 or 800.246.9121. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
