H-E-B and its Customers “Help End Hunger”

August 15, 2012

H-E-B customers statewide took a stance against hunger with a record-setting Help End Hunger campaign raising $444,500 this year to benefit 15 Texas Food Banks – $61,500 was donated to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Michael Guerra, San Antonio Food Bank Chief Development Officer, noted that this donation will go a long way to help feed the 58,000 individuals that are served by the San Antonio Food Bank each week.

H-E-B Help End Hunger is an annual campaign that runs in all H-E-B stores across the state. The campaign occurs at the checkout and encourages customers to tear off a $1, $3 or $5 coupon and add the amount to their final grocery bill.

Help End Hunger is a component of nationally recognized H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program, which is now in its 30th year of working to end hunger in communities in Texas and Mexico.

Guerra noted, “H-E-B partners and customers are like our family and we are grateful for everything they do to help support our efforts in the fight against hunger.”
