Making Nutrition a Priority!
Nutrition is an important part of any healthy lifestyle and at the San Antonio Food Bank we aim to help those in need make good nutrition a priority, even on a small budget. Our Nutrition, Health & Wellness division includes three dieticians, five nutritionists, one certified chef and one agronomist. They have made it their mission to bring the latest health and fitness knowledge to the San Antonio community.
Targeting all ages, the Nutrition Education team provides classes in the San Antonio community to educate clients on a variety of topics such as; healthy eating guidelines, fitness tips for adults & children, understanding food labels, shopping on a budget and much more. Each lesson is completely free with the purpose of promoting healthier lifestyles through practical and affordable wellness education.
The San Antonio Food Bank also provides Diabetes Lifestyle Education Initiative classes to teach clients how to better manage type-2 diabetes or to prevent it. These classes include hands-on cooking demonstrations to help clients prepare and practice a variety of healthy recipes and help those with type-2 diabetes to work towards a healthier lifestyle.
